History & Worship at Risen Christ
Risen Christ was established over thirty years ago by a
group of local Lutherans. They immediately identified themselves as a mission
outpost, establishing a Christian Day School during the first year of the
church's formation. In addition to the Lutheran community, the
congregation serves - the many visitors of all denominations who
vacation on the Grand Strand, and the un-churched, who have wandered from the
Lord and now seek to repent (turn away from sin and walk anew in Christ) and
need the assurance of His peace and love. Certainly anyone seeking a
relationship with Christ and His people are welcome.

Types of Worship
Services
All of our worship services focus on the Word of God,
especially the Good News about Jesus Christ. The words we sing and speak during
our services are poems of praise, paraphrases of Scripture, or (most often)
direct quotations from Scripture. Additionally, our worship is sacramental,
which means we often celebrate Communion during our services.
However, our services differ somewhat in style of music.
Our Majestic Praise Worship uses musical instruments
such as the acoustic guitar, keyboard, bass, and drums to lead worship. Our
Classic Grace Worship uses the church organ and piano to lead worship.
In addition to our regular Sunday morning worship
services, we celebrate special worship services. The services that celebrate our
Lord's birth are Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany. The
services that celebrate our Lord's resurrection are
Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. The dates and times for these services
are found in our Special Worship Schedule.

Nursery Care
We offer a cooperative Nursery Care for children during
Majestic Praise Worship. Our coordinator is a registered nurse. Pagers are
available for the nursery volunteers to contact parents if your child needs you.
We welcome visitors to participate in our program. Parents of regular
child attendees in nursery are asked to take a turn providing supervision
support.
